I have been in human services for about 20 years and have worked at several non profits that serve the elderly, homeless, individuals diagnosed with mental illness, and those dually diagnosed. For the past 10 years, I've worked at a state agency doing outreach and community work with individuals diagnosed with a severe, chronic mental illness assisting them to maintain safety and independence in the community. I was on the board of directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Central MA chapter and remained involved in their mission to raise mental health awareness for all. I think my ideas and thoughts have changed throughout my career but my belief that everyone deserves to be heard and we need to continue advocating for and normalizing mental health care never waivers.
